Capsule Review in Foreign Affairs

A very nice summary from Walter Russell Mead in the November/December issue of Foreign Affairs:

“Turner’s portrait of this unique American figure is balanced, thoughtful, and readable. It is a book that no student of the American West can afford to ignore.”

It occurs to me that in the mid-nineteenth-century, Washingtonians might have considered Utah matters to fall under the heading of “foreign affairs.”
